The 'Worldwide Reptile Rehoming Database' aims to help people who can no longer look after their animals, for whatever reason, to find new homes for them. Please read the FAQ's below if you have a reptile to rehome, or if you want to offer a home for a reptile on the database before clicking the link at the bottom of the page to enter the database.

What is the Reptile Rehoming Database?
The Reptile Rehoming Database is a place for people to advertise reptiles they can no longer look after for whatever the reason. We are not here to judge people, just to help them rehome their reptile.

How much does it cost to advertise my reptile?
It is completely free to advertise your reptile on the Database.

Can I ask for any money for my reptile?
No. The reptiles on the Database are not for sale, they are for rehoming. Please also consider giving any required equipment free with your reptile, as this will greatly improve your chances of finding it a new home. Reptile Rescue centres and associations may ask for a small rehoming fee, however this is to cover their housing and feeding costs only and they must not profit from this fee.

Will my reptile go to a good home?
This database is accessible to everybody, and we do NOT check suitability of any potential new owners, therefore it is your own responsibility to ensure the person answering your ad can provide a suitable home and has the relevent knowledge to care for your reptile properly.

I have a reptile I want to rehome that needs a license. What's the procedure
It is prohibited by law to buy or sell endangered species (CITES listed species) without a licence from DEFRA, however this is not needed if the animal is given with no payment. It is strongly advised to give the person who rehomes your CITES listed animal a letter confirming that it has been given to them, and that no payment has been made.

Can the Database take my animal?
We offer you free space to advertise your reptile for rehoming, but depending on the species of animal and if we have any free places, we may be able to take in your animal. Leave your details, and if we can offer a home we will get in touch with you.

I want to rehome a reptile on the Database, what do I need to do?
You should contact the advertiser directly and not the Database, to discuss any arrangements. All adverts for rehomes have either an email address and/or a phone number.

Can I rehome any of the reptiles on the Database?
Please only offer to rehome a reptile if you have the relevent knowledge, experience, time, space and money for a particular species. Reptiles need specialised care, and this can often work out quite expensive.

How much does it cost to rehome a reptile from the Database?
Reptiles on the Database are not for sale, however you may need to buy specialised equipment to house the reptile correctly. Reptile Rescue Centres and Associations may ask for a donation to cover their costs of housing and feeding whilst the reptile has been in their care.

I want to rehome a reptile that needs a license. What do I need to do?
It is prohibited by law to buy or sell endangered species (CITES listed species) without a licence from DEFRA, however this is not needed if the animal is given with no payment. It is strongly advised that you obtain a letter from the advertiser confirming that it has been given to you, and that no payment has been made.

If you are succesful in finding your reptile a new home, please contact us and let us know so we can remove your ad, and with your permission tell other people about another successful rehome!
